Carla Morera De La Vall Takes Rankings Lead With Capbreton Win

It was no surprise that Carla Morera De La Vall (ESP) and Naïa Monte (FRA) went all the way at the ROXY Junior Pro Capbreton. Both making their consecutive Final appearances after the first JQS in Ferrol last week, they have been delivering standout performances since the start of the competition. Coming up against Lua Escudeiro (POR) and Ranya Squalli (MAR), it was a great matchup.

De La Vall was the first to get two decent scores on the board and take the lead, with Monte holding onto second. The 14-year-old from Lanzarote shut down the heat with her final wave, scoring a 6.00 (out of a possible 10) to take the win. This is De La Vall's first-ever JQS title, and after her runner-up finish at the first stop of the season, she jumps to the top of the rankings.

In the Semifinals, it was a close battle between Carla Morera De La Vall (ESP) and Ranya Squalli (MAR) for the two advancing spots. De la Vall secured a consecutive Finals appearance, while Squalli earned her best-ever JQS result.

Clemence Schorsch (FRA) went into the excellent range in the Quarterfinals to book her spot in the Semifinals, but that's where her run in Capbreton ended with Naïa Monte (FRA) and Lua Escudeiro (POR) taking out the top two spots in their Semifinal.

Conor Donegan Santos Conor Donegan Santos - WSL / Damien Poullenot

Conor Donegan Santos Wins First-Ever Junior Pro

In a Final marred by priority interferences, it was a hard fought battle between Conor Donegan Santos (ESP), Axel Dominguez (FRA), Uri Uziel (ARG) and Pierre Lamothe (FRA). With Santos, Dominguez and Uziel all having to replace their first two counting waves, time was running out and the pressure was on.

A flurry of rides saw everyone get decent scores on the board, but it was Santos who took it to the next level when he scored an excellent 8.67. With a combined total of 11.34 (out of a possible 20), it was enough to win the Quiksilver Junior Pro Capbreton, and Santos earned his first-ever JQS title. Lamothe, the only surfer to escape an interference penalty, claimed runner-up and a career-best result.

Uri Uziel (ARG) and Axel Dominguez (FRA) delivered impressive performances on the way to the Final. Uziel scored an impressive 8.83 for his small wave wizardry in the Quarterfinals, and also earned the highest combined heat score in the Semifinals.

The Quiksilver & ROXY Junior Pro Capbreton ran from July 3-5, 2025 at Plage Santocha, Capbreton.
